What is the maximum size and type of IDE hard disk supported by the MediaGate MG-350HD?
Only IDE (or PATA) hard disks are supported not SATA, disks of up to 750 GB have been tested on the MG-350HD. You may use ATA100 or ATA 133 Hard disks, as this only effects access speed.
Do you have to use the MediaGate with a hard drive?
It is not mandatory for you to install a hard drive in the MediaGate for it to function. Without a hard drive, the MediaGate will simply act as a DMA (Digital Media Adapter), which will allow you to stream your multimedia contents from you PC’s through the MediaGate to your television.
My MG-350HD went blank and now there’s no picture and no sound.
This might be due to setting on the TV Output which has been changed. With your unit on, press the “TV OUT” button on your remote several times to cycle through the outputs until the picture reappears.
No, the current version only has DVI, Component, S-Video, and Composite. We will be adding this feature in the near future.
NDAS (Network Direct Attached Storage) is a Ximeta patented technology which allows users to access all digital storage devices into standard Ethernet networks. Users can then directly control, use and share these devices. You can find information about this technology by visiting Ximeta Inc.
Can you use both Wired and Wireless connection simultaneously?
Yes, both can be connected simultaneous. Because the wired and wireless connection is independent of each other, they will have separate IP addresses.
How do you transfer files to the hard drive?
Via USB 2.0 or NDAS (Wired or Wireless).
Can I connect my computer directly to the MG-350HD via peer-to-peer mode?
Yes, the MG-350 support AD-HOC mode.
The NDAS key is located on the bottom of the MediaGate unit.
What speed is the wireless connection?
802.11g
Why is my file transfer rather slow when transferring through the Network?
The network function on the MediaGate was originally designed only for streaming contents from your PC to your television. It was later that we felt adding NDAS to allow the user to transfer files over the network would be a great bonus feature. To bring this function to life, we emulated the NDAS using a firmware upgrade. The only drawback was that the transfer speed for emulated NDAS is much slower than hardware regulated NDAS.
What wireless security protocol does the MediaGate support?
WEP and WPA (Firmware 1.1.0 and later)
What is the difference between the MediaGate MG-35 and the MG-350HD?
The MG-350HD adds 802.11g wireless capability, DVI output, USB 2.0 host port, and additional format support such as 1080p WMV9 files.
How does the “Folder Lock” function work? Can you explain more…?
The Private folder is really a folder that’s hidden from view, when you enter the password (via the setup area) you can then view and access it. You choose if you can see the folder or not.
The MG-350HD is programmed to use IR module and cannot use MCE Remote Receiver/Controller.
Does the MG-350HD support MP3 VBR and ID3 tags?
Yes, both are supported in the MG-350HD.
What kind of media files does the MediaGate MG-350HD support?
Movies: MPEG 1, 2, 4(MPG, MPEG, AVI, m2v, DAT, VOB)
Music: Mp3, OGG, Vorbis
Photo: JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF
Can I use my MAC with the MediaGate MG-350HD?
Yes, it supports Mac OS 9.0 and higher.
Can I use NDAS functionality with my Mac running OS X 10.4?
Please go to setup and activate NDAS function and then, please go to Ximeta Inc. and download NDAS NetDisk driver for Mac OS X/
