How Does The DMS Software Categorize Files?

On my DMS software, there seems to be no rhyme or reason for how videos are categorized. For Instance, "Ironman" may be in "My Folders," Videos, "Internet Videos" or only showing up in "All Videos." All of my movies are in folders under "My Videos" on the hard drive of my desktop running Windows 7 Ultimate. Yet, despite being in one master folder with subfolders for each movie or TV show, the DMS software puts them anywhere. Anyone know of a way to force categorization in the DMS software to insure that movies are in Movies, etc.? The DMS interface is so basic, there does not appear to be any way to do that.

It is very and it sorts I think by the order you created the share points. OR maybe its alphabetical, I forget but I know it cant be changed. Theyve only had like 1 rev, no updates since the mg800 release unfortunately and the mg800 doesnt work well with other upnp servers. Why dont you use the onboard Samba interface, much faster and reliable connectivity over the net.

What do I need to do to use Samba instead of the DMS software? DMS has been working fine for a while, but now, as I just posted in Network Problems, I am able to see files on my desktop hard drive but lose all signal when I try to play a movie. The odd thing is that the same thing happens on the MediaGate Hard Drive as well, which leads me to believe that it is a defective unit, not a software problem . . .

to use Samba you need to setup WIndows shares on your pc so the mg800 can see the shares via the samba client. I created a shares for each movie genre but you can just create 1 or more if you want as well. Off the main menu, choose 'my media' and your pc should be listed. At this point you can browse the shares created.
